The area along the bank of the Takatoki River that runs through the northern part of Nagahama City is also a famous cherry blossom viewing spot. Especially along the river in the Takatsuki area, about 500 Someiyoshino cherry trees are in full bloom for about 1 km. The Takatsuki and Kinomoto areas are known as "Kannon no Sato" (village of the Goddess of Mercy), as many ancient Kannon (Goddess of Mercy) statues have been preserved and handed down from generation to generation.
