Sojiji Temple is known as the most famous button temple in Shiga Prefecture. The temple grounds are planted with 1,000 peony plants of about 80 varieties, and these flowers withstand the winter snowfall and bloom brilliantly. The best time to view the flowers is usually from late April to early May. When the peonies are finished blooming, the peonies begin to bloom.
