Mt. kanakusodake

This mountain is 1,317 meters high and is the second highest peak in the prefecture after Mt. Located on the border with Gifu Prefecture, it is the headwaters of the Higashimataya and Shirotani Rivers, which are tributaries of the Kusano River. From the summit, visitors can see Hakusan, Mitake, and the peaks of the Northern Alps to the north, and a magnificent panoramic view of Lake Biwa to the south. There are three trails: Shiratani, Nakatsu One, and Higashimata Main Stream, making it a popular mountain where anyone can easily enjoy the thrill of mountain climbing. The natural treasure rhododendron (the flower of Shiga Prefecture) and rare alpine plants grow wild near the summit, delighting the eyes of climbers who visit.
