Sugaura Field in Oku-Biwako is a quiet body of water where you can see Chikubu Island and enjoy canoeing in beautiful nature. Paddling a canoe is said to be a relaxing way to enjoy the scenery from the surface of the water. It is also recommended as a bonding activity with family and friends and a great way to observe wildlife. The area is also known as Sugoura, a historical village rich in cultural heritage. Available for ages 10 and up, the tour takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes, and is limited to one group of up to four people for a relaxing canoeing experience, but may be cancelled in case of inclement weather or strong waves. The meeting place is Okubiwa Canoe School (560-1 Sugaura, Nishiazai-cho, Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture). There is no photography service or transportation, and bringing cameras on the boat is not allowed.
