Kinomoto Jizoin Temple

A temple of the Jishu sect of Buddhism, it is known as a Buddhist temple for healing eye diseases. A 6-meter statue of Jizo stands in the precincts of the temple, a replica of the main statue, which is a secret Buddha. This Jizo-san welcomes visitors from all over Japan as "Kinomoto no Ojizo-san" (Jizo-san of Kinomoto). The temple has a long history, dating back to the Hakuho period. There are records that Kukai, Kiso Yoshinaka, Ashikaga Takauji, and Ashikaga Yoshiaki visited the temple, and it is said that Hideyoshi took up a camp during the Battle of Dokogatake.
The garden is located on the north side of the shoin, with a lawn-covered hill to the north. On the right side, there is a kare-taki stone arrangement, and a turtle island was created in the pond. In front of the garden, there is a de-jima designed as a crane island, creating a kind of Horai-style garden.
