Tojuin Temple

Located in the upper reaches of the Niu River, between the valleys of the Myouri River, a tributary of the Suganami River, is a representative Soto Zen temple in the Kohoku region. The temple was founded by Zen master Nyonaka in the early Muromachi period (1336-1573) and served as a training center where many Zen monks were trained and the sect spread. Visitors can also experience zazen meditation here. Reservations can be made for a minimum of two people.
