Toramozen Mountain, which stands 225.5 meters high, is easily accessible from both the Torahime and Kawage Station sides, making it an easy hike. The mountain commands a panoramic view of Lake Biwa and Chikubu Island to the west and Mount Kotani and Mount Ibuki to the east. Mt. Toragozen has twice appeared as a major battlefield in Japanese history. The first was the Battle of Hachiozan in the early Muromachi Period, in which Ashikaga Takauji and his brother Ashikaga Naoyoshi fought. The second was when Nobunaga Oda attacked Nagamasa Asai at Mt. Kotani, and the remains of the camps of Nobunaga, Hideyoshi Kinoshita, Katsuie Shibata, Hidemasa Hori, Kazumasa Takigawa, Nagahide Niwa, and others remain on the ridge. Toramozen Mountain is also called Nakano-yama or Hachiso-yama, and is one of the best places to see cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in fall.
