Daikichiji Temple (Tendai sect) is located about 750 meters above sea level on Mt. This temple prospered after the Heian period (794-1185), but in the Warring States period (1467-1568), all 47 priests were destroyed by Nobunaga's military fire. Later, the present Daikichi Temple was built on the site of one of the monks on the way up to the ruins of this temple. Every year on Respect-for-Senior-Citizens Day (the third Monday of September), an Insect Memorial Service is held in accordance with the ancient ceremony, which originated with Minamoto no Yoritomo.
