Located to the east of Nagahama Hachimangu Shrine, the temple was originally a Shinto shrine of Hachimangu Shrine. The temple received the generous protection of Lord Hideyoshi, the lord of Nagahama Castle. On the temple grounds, approximately 300 pink and white hibiscuses bloom beautifully from early August to early September. Also in September, a flower called "drunken hibiscuses" blooms. These flowers are white in the morning but turn reddish as time goes by, named so because they resemble a person's face turning red after drinking alcohol.
