Kuroda Kannon Temple

One of the temples built by Gyoki is a one-wooden, 1,000-armed statue. This statue dates from the early Heian period and is also known as Juryo Kannon because it has no Buddha above its head and has 18 arms. The statue retains the characteristics of the Tenpyo period, with an aspect of gentleness amidst the severity of its appearance. According to local beliefs, the statue is believed to be beneficial for marital bliss and curing illness.
